Driving around the Algarve is a fairly painless process. There are effectively two main roads, one is the motorway which is a toll road. The other is the N125 which at times is a dual carriageway. Both roads run the length of the Algarve and both provide you with a good way of getting around in your hire car.

You may actually find it better to organise your car hire for collection at Faro Airport rather than in Vilamoura. By collecting your car from the airport you will also avoid paying for expensive airport transfers.
